Noble Girl: Decorate a Vacation Home ~ RIEview

A cute looking game, Noble Girl: Decorate a Vacation Home is a casual game that features decorating a luxurious home. Surprisingly, this game has plenty of low reviews, and it’s not without reason that the game scored as such. Let’s take a look on discovering just why that is so:

Game Plot

On your 17th birthday, you received a letter from your father with a shocking reveal that you are actually an heiress of a noble family. Apparently, it is their tradition that by the 17th birthday, the heir/heiress will be tested to see if they’re worthy to take over the family. Before you can digest this information further, a man in black suit shows up and whizzes you away to – the family’s vacation home!

The mystery man introduces himself as Daniel, your butler, and he dutifully informs you that your task is improving and maintaining the state of the vacation home as a show of your skills. With that, your new life begins...

Verdict (3/5)

An okay, slightly cliché premise, which is just about the amount of plot the game gives before it promptly leaves you to your own devices. It would have been better if there were continuation in the storyline, perhaps snippets of conversation between Daniel and the player. Too bad the game decided to only set the premise and left it as that.

Character Diversity & Personality

There’s a cast of butlers and maids to assist, but there’s hardly any conversation for players to see character. Sure, occasionally you see a floating speech bubble above their heads, but that hardly counts for personality. Hence this section is ungraded: N/A

Game & CG Art

It’s a really cute looking game for sure, where characters are drawn in almost chibi style. The game uses bright colors to attract interests, and also made sure to include different furniture styles as their strategy of keeping players interested. You can also buy and change the player's outfits, though the selection is fairly limited.

Verdict (4.5/5)

It’s cute, it’s pleasing to the eyes, it appeals to players who are into anime-type art style. Not a bad word about the art here!

Game Mechanics

This is the main source of complaints. While the game is marketed as one where players can decorate the vacation home, in reality the game is an idle clicker game. Regarding decoration, the design and location of each furniture is fixed, all that’s left is for players to make the purchase.

You can purchase, sorry, hire butlers/maids to assist with the running of the home. They will help to collect coins generated from furnitures and even clean up random mess on the ground. You can unlock and upgrade activities, which is where the bulk of automatic generation of coins come from. Need some extra coins that just can’t come quick enough? Open up the touch screen and get clicking! Occasionally you get a sudden mission, where you have to rapidly tap x number of times within a time limit. Successful completion will earn you some useful rewards.

Verdict (4/5)

As a clicker game, this is great. But as the marketed ‘decorate your vacation home’ concept, not so well. Many of the low reviews stemmed from players feeling cheated, as they wanted actual decorating and not having to click repeatedly or wait for coins to purchase. Note also that at some point the cost for furnitures will rapidly increase, which can also be off-putting. Naturally, there is the option to make in-app purchases, but I highly doubt many will do.

In-Game Events

N/A

Overall, Noble Girl: Decorate a Vacation Home is a game that unfortunately suffered from poor marketing. As I've mentioned earlier, had the developers market the game as an idle clicker game, then the ratings would've been different. The positive reviews (buried beneath all the negative ones) are by fans who enjoy idle clicking game, so it's up to the developer to see if they would want to revamp the concept or their marketing strategy for the game's future.
